The Journey so far
The journey so far has been filled with ups and downs..
I have been hearing about CAT for a long long time..and thought it was a test that could be cracked because I had done a lot of objective tests at a young age and had done well.
Boy was I in for a suprise..Honestly i didnt expect it to be so tough
I joined coaching classes last Janurary (2004) and started doing the excercises...Joined becoz all my friends and joined...I also heard that the girls at my coaching centre was better than the other one ..
Anyways ...a month or two down the classes I decided this was going to be virtually impossible
Considering that only about 1 in a hundred made it finally ..
I did decided to give it my best shot and the girls were now out of my life...(Not that I had any in the first place ) ..as in I didnt even think of 'THE GIRL' focussed on cat ......and decided to give it my best shot for the exam....
Prepared from June seriously met up a close buddy(We became friends at the coaching centre )
And did tests after test .trying to beat each other.....
Then came the simulated tests...and now I had the arrogance of having studied a lot and expected to be in the top 100 or so in the country ...
And was I suprised when I learned that I was just rank 1300 ......that just showed that studies just isnt enuff...
Then came the fun part...strategising ..thinking about saving time here.by using this method
and me being a commie didnt know how to do Math the conventional way ....made up my own cranky ways of tackling The QA questions for CAT ... Believe me if the proffs saw how I sold the quant (some gut feel...some educated guesses ..and some very funny methods )..they wouldnt have given me the admit ..by November I was doing reasonably for the tests...and went for the CAT
Being the first time I was taking it ..I sure was nervous..but not very (Decided to chill out watching a lot of movies.... clean ones of course(No alternative was available in anycase )
Went for the CAT ..........Had even put I have to bell the cat ..and the greeting message on my mobile...a few months before the actual test.
and I was suprised that the paper had changed....but could nt help smile to myself..considering what other people would be going thru .........did the best I could do out of such a paper
and got the six IIM calls
This was a good feeling considering I had to work real hard
I learned that the first part of the journey had come to an end ..
The second part....which I considered relatively easy ..was actually atleast as tough as this one .
Three months to be as prepared as one can be for the rigourous GD.s..and PIs....And I had a lot of horror stories of people who were good not making it to any IIM...(I was kind skeptical about my chances ..becoz of this )
